Autoabode × Indian Army — Tactical UAVs & Counter-Drone Systems
How Autoabode’s BotBit reconnaissance UAVs, VTOL fixed-wing platforms and SkyShield counter-drone systems support Indian Army ISR, border security and airbase protection missions.
Client
The Indian Army is the land-based branch of the Indian Armed Forces, tasked with border security, counter-insurgency and high-altitude operations from Ladakh to the North-East. Modern Army formations rely heavily on unmanned systems for ISR (intelligence, surveillance, reconnaissance), convoy overwatch and force protection against hostile drones.
The Challenge
- • Rugged, field-serviceable UAV platforms that can operate across high-altitude, desert and jungle terrain
- • Indigenous supply chain to avoid forex dependency and ITAR-restricted components
- • Hot-swap modular payloads for EO/IR, LiDAR, SIGINT and precision payload delivery
- • A layered counter-drone system capable of both soft-kill (RF jamming) and hard-kill neutralisation
The Autoabode Solution
Autoabode delivered a layered unmanned systems stack built entirely in India:
- • BotBit reconnaissance UAVs with hot-swap payload bays and MIL-STD-83513 connectors for <90-second sensor swaps
- • VTOL X1 hybrid fixed-wing drones for wide-area mapping and border surveillance
- • SkyShield counter-drone systems combining RF, radar and optical detection with kinetic and electronic effectors
- • GroundHawk UGV interceptors for autonomous drone-interception missions at forward operating bases
- • Onboard airframes and brackets manufactured on Autoabode’s own SinterX Pro SLS 3D printer for rapid iteration
Outcomes
- • Multi-role ISR and counter-drone capability fielded with a single Indian OEM and a shared logistics pipeline
- • Field-reported payload swap times under 90 seconds, a 98% improvement over tool-based swaps
- • On-demand 3D printing of replacement airframe components at forward bases, eliminating spares stock-outs
- • Training and maintenance delivered in India by Autoabode engineers, with no ITAR bottlenecks
